Applications will be available March of every year.
Spring is the season to begin planting......Time to put your green thumb to work! The City of Madison has one Community Garden that has been around for over two years. It has 12 plots which all vary in size and are available at no charge to the City of Madison residents on a first come, first serve basis. The garden is located on the corner of 3rd Street and Ingram Street, near the fairgrounds. The City provides a shed for storage for your gardening equipment if needed, hoses, gardening tools (few), water and dirt. The location of the garden is in a very sunny area, any plant that thrives in full sun, will likely grow quite well. If interested in a plot, stop by the City office located at 211 South Lincoln Street and fill out an application to be placed on the Community Garden's list. You can also print out an application below. If you have any questions please call the City office at (402) 454-3412 or email at Clerk@Madison-NE.com.
Quick Fact: In years prior, gardeners shared successes on what grew very well in this area. They found that corn, cabbage, tomatillos, tomatoes and peppers grow the best.
