Partnerships, Growth, & Community Prosperity

The City of Madison Economic Development Department is committed to strengthening the community’s long-term prosperity through coordinated planning, business support, and regional collaboration. By fostering economic growth, expanding opportunities for residents, and enhancing the community’s amenities, the department helps ensure Madison remains a thriving place to live, work, and invest.

Regional Collaboration & Strategic Partnerships

The City of Madison partners with the City of Battle Creek and Madison County under an established interlocal agreement to promote a unified, regional approach to economic development. This collaboration allows communities to share resources, leverage collective strengths, and pursue larger-scale opportunities that benefit the entire region.

Madison also works closely with the Norfolk Area Economic Development Corporation (NAEDC), gaining access to shared tools, data, marketing resources, and support services focused on:

  • Business recruitment and retention
  • Housing development and workforce stabilization
  • Talent attraction and employer support
  • Enhancing high-quality community amenities

These partnerships ensure that Madison is connected to regional growth efforts while maintaining a strong local identity.
